PROFILE CY SOMMS

The Cyprus Sommeliers Association CY SOMMS) is a professional, non-profit organization that aims to promote the profession of the wine professional – Sommelier – by uniting the sommeliers from all over Cyprus. We are the preeminent national advocate of the needs of the modern Sommelier, representing a single voice on all issues related to the profession of Sommellerie whilst promoting the culture of wine and especially the Cyprus wine.

ESTABLISHED
CY SOMMS – Cyprus Sommelier Association was established in 2001

MEMBER
Became a full member of Association de la Sommellerie Internationale ASI (International Sommelier Association) in 2003

PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL CONTEST
In 2003 CY SOMMS participate with our own candidate in Ruinart Sommelier World  Contest in Rheims, France

OUR GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
A renewed focus has been placed on education at all levels, consequently, maintain and enhance members standards, improve their skills and ability to compete in the international stage

Sommelier Standards
Maintain and enhance the practices of Sommeliers standards in Cyprus.

Members Development – Learn
Improve the skills of our members that are practicing the profession of Sommelier in the classroom and through the crucible of sommelier contests whilst promoting the culture of wine in general and specifically the Cyprus Wine both and abroad.  In the words of ASI motto: Learn. Challenge. Compete.

Cyprus Representation
CY SOOMS are worth representatives of Cyprus on all National and International contests, ASI General Assembly, Conferences and Wine Fair and Exhibitions, true ambassadors of the Cyprus Wine
